It's 1990 and Danny wants nothing more than to break out of his quaint village and onto the London rap scene, but when the chance to go toe-to-toe with London’s finest comes in the form of a radio phone-in competition, Danny finds he has to battle his provincial rural life before he can battle anyone on the mic.
Director
Mark Hammett
Mark has been writing and directing his own short films for over 20 years, together with a collective of musicians, actors, writers and other artists that Mark formed in 2001. Their films have screened in competition at various international film festivals including Slamdance, Encounters, Leeds, Edinburgh and Raindance. Proud father of two and loving husband, Mark now works as a photographer and has been self-employed since 2012. For his latest comedy short film ‘Straight out of Compton’ Mark has drawn on his awkward teenage memories of being an aspiring white rapper living in a small English town during the early 1990s.
